How to fix speed issues on Android

Follow these steps to troubleshoot slow speed issues on Android devices.

NOTE: Some decrease in speed (around 30%) is expected when using a VPN on Android. This is normal due to the encryption process.

1: Test several different locations

Even if you have used the Quick Connect button previously, you should try several other locations as well. Try the ones that are close to your physical location.

If you're not sure how to check if the speed has increased, there are many apps on the Google Play Store for testing the speed. Download one and use it for speed testing purposes.

Quick tips:

  • Choose servers closest to your physical location for best speeds
  • Test speed after connecting to each new location
  • Use a speed test app from Google Play Store to measure improvements

2: Restart the device

Sometimes, simply restarting your Android device can resolve connectivity issues and improve VPN performance.

3: Enable small packets option

Small packets reduce the size of each transmitted packet, which may improve the connection speed and stability on Android devices.

Look for an option to use small packets in VPN Master Pro's settings. If it's off by default, turn it on and test the speed again.

Why small packets help:

  • Reduces packet loss on unstable networks
  • Improves performance on mobile data connections
  • Better compatibility with network restrictions

4: Change your network type

Some networks might perform worse compared to others when connected to a VPN. Check if your Wi-Fi is slower than your mobile data or vice versa.

Network testing steps:

  1. Test speed while connected to Wi-Fi with VPN enabled
  2. Switch to mobile data and test speed again with VPN
  3. Try different Wi-Fi networks if available (home, office, public)
  4. Use the network type that gives you the best VPN performance

5: Turn off battery-saving mode and optimize VPN app

Battery saving mode or other settings that optimize battery consumption on your Android device might disable essential networking functions for the VPN.

You will find all the battery settings if you open your phone's Settings and select the Battery settings tab. Turn off Battery-saving mode temporarily while using the VPN.

Additional battery optimization steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > VPN Master Pro > Battery
  2. Set battery optimization to "Don't optimize" for VPN Master Pro
  3. Allow background activity for the VPN app
  4. Restart your device after making these changes

Additional Android optimization tips

  • Reset network settings: Go to Settings > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth to clear network conflicts (this will reset saved Wi-Fi passwords).
  • Close background apps: Use the recent apps button and close unnecessary apps that might be using bandwidth.
  • Update the VPN app: Check Google Play Store for VPN Master Pro updates with performance improvements.
  • Clear app cache: Go to Settings > Apps > VPN Master Pro > Storage > Clear Cache to remove temporary files.
  • Turn off post-quantum encryption: If available in settings, disable post-quantum encryption temporarily to test speed improvements.
  • Check data usage restrictions: Ensure VPN Master Pro has unrestricted mobile data access in Settings > Apps > VPN Master Pro > Mobile data.
